Hair Clip Guide
Alligator Clip - also known as a salon clip, this is a metal clip on a spring that you open by pinching it on the end. An alligator clip - like its namesake - has teeth making it suitable for placing it in all hair styles, be it on the side of the head, on top of a side, half or full pony or bun. It is not reccomended for young babies whose hair may be too thin or fine for the teeth to catch.

Bobby Pin - this is two tightly connected thin pieces of metal that you pry open to slide on and grip hair into place. It is also used for holding things on the head such as hats, doilies, tichels, tiaras, or soft wide headbands to prevent them from slipping and moving.

Banana Cip - two connected plastic combs with teeth that open at one end to allow you to place it around your hair, and then close around the hair to hold it in place. Look for a banana comb that opens fully for ease of use.

French Clip - this is a metal clip or barrette that you pinch on the sides to open. Dependant on the size of the clip is the amount of hair that will fit in it. If you need to fit a small french clip on a large amount of hair, first use a thin pony holder to hold the hair in place and then clip the french clip to the hair right above the pony to conceal the pony.

Jaw Clip - also known as a claw clip is two large plastic claws on a metal spring that can grasp a large amount of hair dependant on it's size. Great for ponies, or for clipping all hair up and off your neck. Jaw clips can also be small for smaller amounts of hair.

Pinch Clip - this clip is similar to an alligator clip just without the teeth making it suitable for babies as well as kids and women of all ages. Since there are no teeth it can slip so you may need to put a pony or bobby pin in the hair first to hold in place.

Snap Clip - a metal clip that opens by bending back and closes by bending forward with an audible snap. Great for babies or for holding things on the hair like tichels or headwraps, or great for keeping bangs out of your face or your little girl's eyes.
